A Few Insignificant Things You Can Do To Assuage Your Guilt On Earth Day
by Byron Kent, Mon. 21 Apr 2008

You don't have to make tough sacrifices to show you love the Earth. This is America after all! So to allow you to continue life as usual with only a few concessions to win the respect of your eco-friends and future generations, here are a few tips from Brainsnap (a proud member of the Better Living Through Trendy Greenwashing initiative)...
Save The Planet Without Trying
- Hang a poster of Al Gore on your wall.
- Turn the dome light of your Tahoe off to save electricity.
- Ask a local Congressional candidate why he/she hasn't done a press event in front of a scenic wilderness area.
- Buy anything made with hemp.
- "Think green." Especially while practicing Karnapidasana or similar poses.
- Tenaciously post rebuttals to global warming skeptics in online forums. (They're only one more journal paper link or ad hominem attack away from being convinced!)
- Hire a PR firm to handle inquiries about what you're doing to "protect the earth" or "go green" or "save the planet" or whatever those hippie nut jobs are calling it these days.
- Buy bottled water with less packaging. To the best of your ability, ignore the fact that it is most likely packaged and marked-up municipal water. Trucked across three watersheds. (But it's really, really pure)
- Live off the grid. You can generate your own electricity by rubbing a balloon against your hair, a carpet, your pet, or a similar surface.
Those are just some of the superficial ways in which you can do your part for the ... whatever. It may not ultimately make any difference, but if not, at least you didn't waste a lot of effort!
