Jack Thompson a "Person of Interest" in VA Tech Shooting
Anti-Video Game lobbyist Jack Thompson is being interviewed by police today on suspicion of ties to the shooter in yesterday's Virginia Tech Massacre, in which 33 people were killed and dozens more injured.
"Before we were even able to identity the shooter, Thompson revealed an insider's knowledge of the causes of the massacre to television audiences across the country," local Sheriff Ian Bridges told reporters. "It stands to reason, then, that Thompson must have known the shooter personally if he was able to inform viewers the individual played video games."
Officials point out that Jack Thompson has no prior history of psychic investigation or hands-on experience with augury, palmistry, cartomancy, entrail-reading or any other forms of divination. Supporters of Thompson, however, point out that the lawyer has experimented with the art of Gyromancy in the past. Gyromancy is a form of divination based on whirling around rapidly until the querent is dizzy and falls down, which some believe may be the basis of many of Thompson's theories about gun violence.

Investigators, however, say that Thompson's knowledge of the root causes of yesterday's shootings were far too early and specific to not be regarded as suspicious.
"We wouldn't be doing our jobs if we didn't investigate how he knew all that stuff, or why he didn't come forward and admit to knowing the shooter personally. He might have had other information that could have helped us - for instance, did the suspect play Madden? Or Myst? Flat Out 2? Tetris? Did he own a Wii or a Gameboy or a PC?"
Experts believe Thompson might face charges of obstructing justice and of withholding information from police during an ongoing investigation. If found guilty, Thompson may also be charged as an Accessory Before the Fact.
"It's no small matter when a public figure like Jack Thompson knows key information about a spree shooter - like the fact the suspect played video games - but is unable to divulge to police how he knows, particularly considering he was able to talk familiarly about the suspect before police were able to reveal the latter's identity."
Jack Thompson was unavailable for comment.
